Introducing Mega Muscle’s newest photographer

You probably all know someone like this – that person who decides they want to do something and then they just excel at it.  I have a person like this in my life.  Those of you that have attended Mega Muscle events probably already know him.  He’s that guy that is always right on top of whatever you need but never in the way.  He can make Lucas’ hair that perfect color of blonde, create an apocalyptic world with some shears and old fur coats, throw together a male review at a moments notice, and still make sure everything stays clean, organized and relatively sane.

He is simply…  Kenny.

Kenny Wujek for those of you not so intimate with the inner workings of Team Mega Muscle.  I first met Kenny when I was working for Rodale Publications and he owned this amazing boutique in downtown Portland.  Our friendship grew from there and he also became my hair stylist.  When he sold his store a few years ago, I needed a stylist to come on a high-concept shoot that we were doing in the desert just North of the Mexican border and thought he would be perfect.  Okay, moment of truth – my motivatin was two-fold.  I also was able to steal him off a job he was scheduled to do with my former business partner and that gave me immense pleasure. From that trip on, Kenny became an integral part of everything that Mega Muscle does and he worked closely with me on every trip we have had since.

Well now Kenny Wujek has a new position at Mega Muscle – that of photographer!

I admit it, I do get jealous of Kenny sometimes because everything he does he just does so well.  But I have a gift too – that of recognizing talent and taking full advantage of it!  Knowing that Kenny would be an amazing photographer was a given.  But now I am happy to share the results of the beginnings of his work with us.  I am so grateful that I have been able to lean on him to help out with all of our Mega Muscle projects but now I am ecstatic to share with the world his  latest photographic endeavors – I hope all of you love them as much as I do!

Drew Cutler pops up at Mega Muscle Expo in Palm Springs!

You just never know who or what is going to pop up when Mega Muscle hits the road on one of our big trips.  Take our most recent trip to Palm Springs.  We were there for the expo but I had received a message from porn star Drew Cutler – a friend of mine from Twitter – telling me he was going to be in the area and asking if he could tag along on our workshops.  Drew showed up and man I tell you, he was so hot, we couldn’t help but start shooting him along with all the other Mega Muscle guys that were there.

Here is a peak at the first set of shots of Drew when we were shooting at the old Western Town near Indian Hot Springs.  Some of you may have seen these shots already because these were the same shots that helped Drew clinch the title of Hottest Body from AtomicMen.com!

David Fox and Yvan Cournoyer show you how to get motivated to work out with the help of your buddy!

You have just come off a long weekend of relaxing, eating, drinking and now Monday roles around and the last thing you want to do is get your ass out of bed to workout.  When you reach this point of being to lazy to leave your bed, it might be time to start working out with a buddy!  Buddy workouts give you the incentive to get to the gym or wherever you work out because you have made the commitment to connect.  Having a workout partner is great as you help each other to push past your limits for mass and definition and can also be there to help each other with safety.  Best thing about a workout buddy?  If you find the right one, you can always continue afterward for a little post gym cardio!

Happy Hump Day!

I know!  I missed a Hump Day – I suck.  In my defense I had meetings in Hollywood last Wednesday and then I had to drive a 12 passenger van through a torrential downpour between Santa Monica and San Francisco.  When I finally got to return my van to Thrifty at Oakland Airport, they actually made me clean my own rental car!!!  I could understand if it was out of control dirty but honestly, it was just some pieces of grass and some empty water bottles.  Because of this I am declaring jihad on Thrifty and urge all of you to rent from Fox or Dollar or someone else – they totally suck!
But I digress.  I obviously had a rough Hump Day last week and never got around to it.  Oh how can I ever make it up to you?  How about with ALL NEW photos of everyone’s favorite Mormon – Eric Turner!  All of these photos are by Mega Muscle’s very own Anthony Duran and were photographed last week at the Mega Muscle Photo Expo in Palm Springs.

Mark Jenkins breaks in Mega Muscle newbie Trace Wray

One of my favorite things about the Mega Muscle events is getting to see hot guys turn into models.  One such example happened last week at the Mega Muscle Expo in Palm Springs when first time, never-ever modeled Trace Wray was paired up with photographer extraordinaire Mark Jenkins.  Trace contacted me about six weeks ago wanting to break into modeling.  With just his web cam photos that he had taken that day for me to make a decision, something in my gut said this guy was special.

So I took a chance and brought Trace to work with us in Palm Springs.  Man, am I glad I did!  His very first shoot was with Mark and you would think based on these shots that he had been doing this for years.  I want to welcome Trace to Team Mega Muscle and send out a very special thanks to Mark Jenkins for being gentle when he busted Trace’s model cherry.

Lucas Walker and Anthony Duran – together again!

Just got back from an amazing time in Palm Springs where we were joined by photographers from all over the country as well as the founders of my current favorite underwear company, Sweat Under Gear.  We definitely had a phenomenal trip although it has taken me a looooong weekend to recover.I t’s always great meet new people at our events as well as allow for old friends to reconnect.

One such reconnection was that between our returning champion Lucas Walker and one of our newest staff photographers – Anthony Duran.  This was the second time these two had worked together and DAMN!  The images they created were amazingly hot.  Here’s a sneak peak at the shots from last weekend as well as some of their previous work.  Watch this week for more images of the other models at the event!

Photographer Spotlight – Henning von Berg

You will notice that I consider most of the photographers that I put in the spotlight “great friends”.  I have been fortunate to have met some amazing talents throughout my career and am thrilled to call many of them friends.  Of course, I have met a bunch of assholes too, but I am really not about promoting them so much!

Henning von Berg definitely fits into the “friend” category.  I first came across Henning’s work when I was doing research on a production I was starting.  I loved it so much; I shot an email to let him know.  His assistant replied to me to let me know that he was actually in Los Angeles and since that is where I was scheduled to be, I could to try and set up a meeting.

Sometimes, destiny just has a way of bringing people together.  I could not get through to Henning but had several other places to be.  One such place was a location in the Hollywood Hills, a private home owned by world-renowned artist Ron Anderegg.  I arrived there and imagine my surprise when it turned out that the other occupant of the home was Henning von Berg himself!  We instantly formed a friendship that has lasted through the years and his photographs of Mega Muscle models Lucas Walker and Derrick Davenport are some of my favorites!

And man, does he take SEXY shots!  One of Henning’s greatest gifts is that he captures his subject as they are, not as some dressed up, theatrical image, not as an effeminate icon meant to be devoured by a stereo-typical gay counter-culture, but as real, sexy and even sometimes flawed, MEN!  Perhaps it is his German aesthetic, but he never shies away from pushing the boundaries of sensuality and the results are never a disappointment.

Henning now divides his time between Berlin, Los Angeles, Miami and Amsterdam.  His work has been published in numerous books and magazines on all five continents.  His latest book, Alpha Males, features some of the most stunning male photography anywhere, including that of Mega Muscle’s Derrick Davenport.  I am always thrilled to see my friend Henning and even more so when he photographs my guys!

Don’t let your workout slide this weekend!

I have been looking forward to this weekend!  I love all the fun that we have on our Mega Muscle weekends but sometimes I want to hang close to home.  One thing I need to do though is make sure that I don’t let my regular workouts slide.  It is so easy to slip into that relaxation mode and just talk yourself out of the workout.  That is why I force myself to go first thing in the morning – before the relaxation can set in.

Want a massage?

Want a massage?  Many a good porn sex scene has started with these three words.  While it is true, massage can relax you and put you in the mood for some amazing sex, it is also great for muscle recovery, flexibility and all around de-stressing.

I directed a film recently starring Mega Muscle’s Lance LaMar and former Mega Muscle model Alika Medeiros.  Hawaiian born Alika is a licensed massage therapist and the creator of the Massage Made Simple program.  Massage Made Simple is a series of DVDs presented in an easy to follow format so that anyone can do it.  And it’s true!  My editor reported to me after completing the film that she had tried the techniques from the Massage Made Simple for Women and her girlfriend was both impressed and “relaxed”.

The film that Lance, Alika and I worked on together was specific for massaging the male body and Lance LaMar was the male body getting massaged!  If you know anything about Lance LaMar, you know he has a body to kill for and it was the perfect canvas to teach all of Alika’s perfect techniques.
