The Pics Behind the Pics – Mega Muscle Behind the Scenes

Without a doubt – our “Behind the Scenes” series of videos are our top selling products.  People love to catch a glimpse as to what happens on set and off.  But the fact is, those videos are still produced.   You don’t get to see the camaraderie that goes on, how we all really do become family and hang out – not just when we are working but even when we are just in the same town.  It is to me the most rewarding part of the job – getting to work with people I love and respect.

Better Body Through Yoga!

There are many different ways to develop that perfect body.  So many of the guys at Mega Muscle spend hours and hours lifting weights, taking supplements, and running on a treadmill.

Some time ago, we worked with a model named Alika Medeiros.  Alika is a native Hawaiian and while he has an incredibly hot body, it is not that typical, bulky muscular body that so many male fitness models have.

While Alika often lifts weights and does a ton of cardio, he is the creator and teaches a new kind of yoga called “Kilo Lani”.  It is a vinhasa flow that incorporates traditional eastern yoga with movements from the Hawaiian hula.

I can tell you one thing – it will kick your ass!  While I am by no means a yogi, I do yoga pretty regularly and over the last couple of years, have gotten pretty good.  But I have never felt such an intense workout as when I was doing Kilo Lani yoga with Alika Medeiros.  The strength it takes to do many of the moves is intense — it is no wonder this yogi has such a killer body!

Alika worked with Mega Muscle for about two years and then went on to become the face of the company Malama International that produces yoga videos and massage videos.  I was thrilled when 9 months after he started working with Malama he contacted me to request that I bring my crew to be film his projects.

Mega Muscle Flashback – Mega Muscle Photo Expo in Vancouver!

As we get closer to the up coming Photography Expo in Palm Springs – I am continuing to look back and share with you guys our past events.  One of the funnest expos we have ever hosted was in Vancouver, BC – the home town of Mega Muscle model and international super-star, Yvan Cournoyer!  For our own productions, we produce a lot in Vancouver but this was the first time we had taken our photographer clients up there.  What a fantastic weekend!  It started with the Expo, went into the finale of the world fireworks competition and ended with Vancouver Gay Pride.  It was definitely an event we will all remember for years to come!

I have had a pretty crazy week.  We are getting ready to launch our new subscription site, we have several new titles that come out next month AND I have been busy planning the Mega Muscle Photo Expo in Palm Springs.  It makes it sort of difficult to come up with things to share with you all on the blog.

Happy Hump Day!

Today’s Hump Day Hunk is Ryan Scott and he comes to us from Portland, Oregon.  I first met Ryan when he was dancing at a club in Portland and the next day we had him in the studio.  Ryan has an amazing body and while he is a bit shy at first, he is definitely uninhibited!  After our first shoot with Ryan we have worked with him again and again and he always leaves us wanting even more!

Mega Muscle Flashback – Mega Muscle Photography Expo in Hollywood!

I love L.A.  I moved there to go to college and lived there for most of my adult life.  Even today, when I get back to L.A., I feel like I am home again.  That is probably why, of all the events I have ever produced, the Los Angeles Photography Workshop seemed to just come together perfectly.

It was also fortunate because it was timed in conjunction with the FAME competition, so many of the photographers had double-reason to be in Hollywood that week.  The Hollywood event featured Derrick Davenport, Matt Walch, Alex Hawn, Zach Whitaker and introduced Julian Fantechi.  We spend one day at the Mega Muscle studios on La Brea and then the second day was up at an estate on Mount Olympus.  I think everyone had an amazing time and the photos that came out of it were spectacular!  Here are some shots from the various photographers who attended.

Brian Woodi and The Godfather of Film Making

When you leave San Francisco to head up to the Napa valley, it is like crossing the Rubicon – once you go you never want to turn back!  One of Mega Muscle’s new faces, Brian Woodi, is from Napa so we decided for our first shoot with him we would head up to him and shoot him in his world.

Man, am I ever glad we did!  Mega Muscle photographer Matt Sanders was up from L.A. and we headed out to Napa EARLY.  Neither of us had been to Napa and we had no idea what to expect.   I will tell you what, the day was so much better than I even could have imagined as both Matt and I got to experience something we had never done before.  Because of legal reasons I can’t name the person or the vineyard, but a very famous film director opened his home and his complete estate up to us for an amazing shoot in Napa, California.  We got to film in the caves where they store the wine barrels, all throughout the grape fields, and even on some of the props and vehicles from some of his Academy Award winning films.

Thanks to Brian Woodi who actually set all of this up for us and a HUGE THANKS to this godfather of modern film making for granting us permission to shoot on his estate.  He made our first (and definitely not our last) trip to Napa one we will never forget.

Happy Hump Day!

Finally I have a full week again and I am hitting Hump Day on a day I really feel like I need something to get over the hump!  Who better to help me (and all of us really) get over this week’s hump then today’s Hump Day Hunk Michael Crowe.  Mike might be the most published of any of the Mega Muscle guys.  Originally from Georgia, this hot sexy Southern boy now calls the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area home.  Want to see more of Michael Crowe – check out his hot Behind the Scenes DVD produced by Mega Muscle and available at Amazon.com!

Eric Turner gives Baskit the MAGIC touch!

If any of you are in the fashion industry, you probably know all about MAGIC – the HUGE apparel trade show held twice annually in Las Vegas.  When I was an editor at Vanidad magazine, I used to make the pilgrimage every year to check out the latest offerings the fashion world had to offer.  One bright spot on these trips was getting to check out the men’s underwear companies, with their hunks all lined up showing the hottest looks in underwear for the next season.

The most recent MAGIC show was in Las Vegas last month and Mega Muscle’s Eric Turner was there modeling for Baskit underwear.  Needless to say, Eric turned as many heads in Vegas as he had just a couple weeks previous in the Castro.  Here are the shots!
